Service Access in Nepal

  • One-clinic pathway — testing, treatment and follow-up under one confidential roof, avoiding fragmented care.
  • No referral required — all services are directly accessible; book and attend.
  • Transparent pricing — Rs. 450 consultation; test and treatment prices confirmed before proceeding.
  • Inclusive care — same professional standard for all patients, including LGBTQ+ patients.

The Full Service Range

Thamel Clinic is a sexual health and testing service covering whole pathway: confidential consultation, laboratory testing matched to your exposure, treatment for diagnosed infections, vaccination and prevention, and counselling for concerns that sit around sexual health — relationships, fertility, identity and anxiety.

Services are organized here by what you might need: testing for a specific infection or a general screen, treatment and follow-up for a diagnosed condition, preventive services including vaccination and post-exposure assessment, and counselling and specialist support. Each section explains what is included, who it is for, and how it is delivered.

Everything is confidential and priced transparently — consultation is Rs. 450, and test and treatment costs are confirmed before anything is done. If you are unsure which service you need, a consultation is right starting point.

Testing & Screening

Infection-specific testing: chlamydia and gonorrhea by NAAT (site-matched — urine or swabs from throat/rectal sites where exposed), HIV by fourth-generation antigen/antibody testing with confirmatory pathway, syphilis by two-test serology, hepatitis B and C by serology with confirmatory markers, herpes by lesion PCR or typed serology, HPV screening, and testing for trichomoniasis, mycoplasma and other infections where indicated.

Screening packages combine relevant tests for common situations — a new partner, a routine check, a recent exposure, or a pre-marital screen — at package pricing that is usually more economical than individual tests. Window periods are explained honestly: testing too early can produce a falsely reassuring negative.

Single-Infection Testing

Targeted testing for a specific infection or symptom.

Full Panels

Multi-infection screens matched to your anatomy and risk.

Site-Matched Sampling

Urine does not detect throat or rectal infection — right specimen is used.

Window-Period Guidance

Honest timing advice; retesting intervals where needed.

Treatment & Ongoing Care

Curable infections — chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, trichomoniasis, chancroid, lice and scabies — are treated with correct antibiotic or therapy at correct dose, chosen by a clinician. Self-treatment with pharmacy antibiotics is strongly discouraged: wrong drugs and incomplete courses cause resistance and mask infection.

Chronic and viral infections — HIV, herpes, hepatitis B — are managed with monitored treatment: HIV is suppressed with antiretrovirals (undetectable viral load means effectively no sexual transmission — U=U), herpes with episodic or suppressive antivirals, and hepatitis B with monitoring and treatment where indicated. Follow-up testing, test-of-cure and partner management are included as part of care.

Correct Treatment

The right drug and dose — not self-selected antibiotics.

HIV Care

ART initiation and monitoring; U=U explained accurately.

Herpes Management

Episodic or suppressive therapy matched to recurrence frequency.

Follow-Up

Test-of-cure and retesting at recommended interval.

Prevention & Vaccination

Vaccination services include hepatitis B ( full series is ~95% protective), HPV within appropriate window, and travel-related vaccination where indicated. Vaccination eligibility and timing are confirmed at consultation.

Post-exposure services are time-sensitive: HIV PEP must start within ~72 hours of a high-risk exposure. Risk counselling — barrier use, testing intervals, partner strategies — is practical and matched to your actual situation rather than generic.

Hepatitis B & HPV Vaccines

The two vaccines that most directly prevent serious outcomes.

Travel Vaccines

Destination-appropriate vaccination for travel from Nepal.

PEP (within ~72h)

Post-exposure prophylaxis after high-risk HIV exposure — urgent.

Risk Counselling

Realistic prevention advice for your circumstances.

Counselling & Specialist Support

Sexual health is rarely only about infection. Counselling services cover concerns around it: sexual health education, anxiety and confidence issues, desire and satisfaction concerns, relationship and couples counselling, trauma- and depression-related sexual issues, and inclusive, LGBTQ+-affirming care.

Fertility-related services include pre-conception STI screening (infections like chlamydia directly threaten fertility), fertility counselling, and IUI-related support with honest success-rate discussion. Where specialist or hospital care is needed, referrals are coordinated.

Sexual Health Counselling

Education, anxiety, confidence and relationship concerns — supported honestly.

Inclusive & Affirming

LGBTQ+-affirming, non-judgmental care as standard.

Fertility Support

Pre-conception screening, fertility counselling, IUI guidance.

Coordinated Referral

Specialist and hospital referrals arranged where needed.
